Script writer Kalavoor Ravikumar’s directorial debut. Based on a real life incident at Plachimada, where the villagers fought against the multinational company coca cola who were exploiting the groundwater of their village.
It’s a children’s film.The film has been scripted not by the director, but by a newcomer – Jiju Ashokan, the film features cinematography by S.G.Raman, lyrics by Prabha Varma and T.P. Prabhakaran, and music by Dr. Muhammed Shakeel. Kalavoor Ravikumar discusses some very relevant environmental issues and other problems too in the film. Oridaththoru Puzhayundu has been released only in a single theatre in Thrissur and was screened in many schools.
The film, which won the Kerala Film Critics Association Awards for the Best film for children and also for the best child artists, has been produced under the banner of Kamalam Films and has in the cast K.B.Venu, Jenny (Meera Jasmine’s sister), Jayasree Sivadas, Goutham Babu, Shaalin, Harikrishnan, Balachandran Chullikad, Murukan, Amarvind, Rikhil, Swathy etc.
